I'm the Mom of a sneaky 2 1/2 year old.

I went to MOMS Night Out tonight, leaving my husband in charge of getting the kids to bed. It's never a problem, they are great when it comes to bedtime....there is usually no fight, or bargaining (knock on wood) so it goes fairly smoothly for him. Tonight was a little different! I got home about 9:00 and was bringing a catalog order in from the car (whoo hoo new blinds for the basement!) and as I was talking to Seth we hear a "Is that you Mommy?" We thought that it was coming from the direction of her bedroom. Next thing I know, there are little footsteps climbing the staircase! That little sneak, pretended to go to bed, the followed her Daddy downstairs and was playing in the basement for about an hour! She was soo cute and she hung her head so sweetly, we couldn't punish her, but just put her back to bed. Seth thought he heard something, but didn't check it out....she was one lucky little girl tonight and got to stay up later than usual!

Post Secret Monday....

hey...I warned you! Sometimes the Post Secret post will be on Mondays. So what did you think about yesterday's secrets? Good? Not so good? Awesome? My favorite secret is the the one with the closed fist and then when it flips over it says "I think it is beautiful that no matter how tight finances may get...charity survives." A lot of people I know are hurting because of the economy. We are lucky to still be OK, and I am reminded of that every time I hear about the homeless shelters and soup kitchens being full. I even gave Seth some "emergency money" to keep for when he sees someone downtown asking for a bit of a handout. He didn't have any $$ when a young family needed some for just 1 night in a hotel while waiting for their TB tests to come back to be accepted to the family shelter. It made me sad that I hadn't been prepared enough to make Seth prepared enough for something like that. What about your favorite??

Post Secret Sunday cont.

I took a more in depth look at the secrets on Post Secret for this week. And since this is my blog, I am choosing only 1/2 secret as my favorite. The first 1/2 of the Hero2 secret is one I like, especially since my son is so into superheroes, that is what I constantly hear about. "you don't need to slay dragons and seduce sorceresses to be a hero...sometimes you just have to do the right thing." I like it as a reminder to me to teach my kids that the greatest heroes are the ones that do the right thing, even when it is hard to do so.

Post Secret Sunday

Take a look at the secrets on Post Secret this week.....pretty good ones. If you are on Twitter, make sure you follow Post Secret to get a bonus secret or two on Saturdays. I quickly read through the Secrets this week, and I'm not sure which is my favorite. Share your favorite and I will read through them more carefully when I get a chance, and then I'll share mine! Oh, and Happy Easter!

I'm a Mom dedicating more time to my family.

I've decided to be less rigid when it comes to blog posts....no more recipes on Wednesday and music on Thursday (I will keep to the Post Secret Sunday...but maybe sometimes it will be a Monday post) and I will post whatever I want, whenever I want. I don't have enough readers that will be disappointed with this change, and if you hate it, then you can stop reading my blog. I think this will help me be able to spend more time with my family, and not worry about having to post on my blog on a specific day. I think doing this, along with other changes in our household will make everyone a little happier, most of all me! (OK, so you all know the phrase "When Mama's Happy, Everyone's Happy!)

I'm starting a new feature on my blog.

Post Secret Sunday. As I was preparing to go to the USU Post Secret Event this week, I found out how many of my friends (and friends of friends) read Post Secret every Sunday. I won't bore you with details of my trip (it was AWESOME!) but I will leave you with a quote from Frank Warren: "The World Needs To Hear Your Voice". Frank wrote that in a copy of the book he gave to an audience member, I'm sure hoping to give us the courage to share one of OUR secrets. This is how Post Secret Sunday will work on my blog. Read Post Secret every Sunday (or Saturday night depending on when it is posted) return here to read my post, then share your favorite Post Secret secret with me and my readers (there aren't very many). You can just tell us which one is your favorite, or you can elaborate if you'd like. No pressure! (You can even just read the comments and not share if you want!) My favorite Post Secret secret for Sunday April 4th: "I hope when I'm old, I do more than smoke and drink like my Grandma". Both of my Grandma's have passed away, and neither of them, smoked or drank, but I hope I do more with MY life when I get older and am done raising my kids. I want to travel, and take classes, and do more than just sit around waiting to die. What's YOUR favorite Post Secret secret this week?

I'm a Mom headed out of town!

Alright, I'm headed out of town to attend a lecture at USU with a couple of friends. We leave in like an hour, so I don't have time to bake the cookies I wanted to for this week's food post. I did however find the cinnamon chips for the recipe and I plan on making the cookies this weekend. Here's the recipe: http://whateverdeedeewants.blogspot.com/2008/07/cinnamon-chip-cookies.html I found DeeDee's blog through Tip Junkie, where her Disneyland tips were highlighted. I also found the cinnamon chips at Harmon's in The District and my Mom found them in the Albertson's in Orem (I recommend buying them when you see them....they are an elusive ingredient). Take a look at the recipe, and I will have a tutorial next week. Oh and here's a fun link: http://store.effingcards.com/ I found this at Little Black Box Reviews....I'm gonna order a ton!
