For those of you that don't know, today is the American Diabetes Association's "Alert Day". It is designed to help raise awareness of the risks of Type 2 Diabetes, and to let you know if you are at risk by taking a test on risk factors. My brother-in-law Javin was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and then later diagnosed with Type 1. It has been hard for him to get it under control and he and my sister, Jannell are now trying to raise awareness by riding in the Utah Tour deCure in June. Their bike team "Ride for Javin" needs to raise money to help fund awareness campaigns, and research studies to Stop Diabetes. I've donated a little bit, and they are to 34% of their donation goal. I am very proud of them for pledging to ride in this "race", mostly because they are riding their bikes more often to help them get ready for it, and that in turn makes BOTH of them healthier. If you'd like more information about the Tour deCure ride in your area click here. OR if you'd like more info on how you can donate to the "Ride For Javin" team, leave me a comment, or email me, and I'll send you the links. (This is not a plea for donations, this post was to help you become aware that there are things you can do to help stop diabetes, and for you to become aware of the risks and signs YOU might have this disease.)
