I'm a memory keeper too...

All of you know today is the 7th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States. Last year one of our neighbors put flags in front of some of our houses, to help us remember. My son, being 4 at the time asked me why we had a flag in our yard. I explained to him as best I could why we have this day of honor. This year, another flag was placed in our yard, and even though he didn't ask why, I still told him. I remember where I was when I first heard about the terrorist attacks. I remember the feelings of shock, awe, and horror as I watched TV in the following weeks and months, and tried to move on. I hope to pass those memories on to my kids little by little, as they get older, so they will pass them onto their kids, so we we will never forget the men and women that lost their lives on September 11th. 2001. So we will never forget the many men and women that came to the rescue of New York City and essentially our nation, as they lived up to the promises they made when they became Police Officers, Firefighters, and rescue workers. So we will never forget the men and women that died fighting for our freedom, and that are fighting for our freedom right now. I will keep those memories for them, so I will never forget. *I will return to "Turntable Thursday" next week...it just didn't feel like an appropriate post today.

I was reading about memorial services today when Seth asked me what that(a memorial made from steel taken from Ground Zero) was and it's difficult to explain to a 5-year old. But, like you, over time I hope that I'll be able to express how I felt that day, the memories I have, so that they will know and hopefully understand that tragic day.

A fitting post for today.
