I am a Mom with a question...

Is it that hard to make sure every parent of a kid on a soccer team knows when there is a practice? Is it that hard to talk to the team after the game to make sure we are all on the same page? Why can't adults communicate?? I found out today during Colin's soccer game that a few parents have been informed of practice being held every week since soccer started. The parent that has been in charge of is isn't the coach, since the coach travels out of town during the week, and apparently hasn't been telling everyone about the practices. She just thought it wasn't a very good time for some of us, and never questioned that we didn't know about them. I don't think the coach knows about the practices either....I asked last week if we had been missing them because of lack of knowledge, and he said he hasn't been having them because he has been out of town. What does that say about the person holding the practices? I don't think I would have known about them if I hadn't have eavesdropped on a conversation she had been having with some other parents. Do I not look like a soccer parent? Has my kid not been at every game? Do I act like I am so irresponsible that I wouldn't take the time to bring my kid to a soccer practice? Ugh! I am just a little pissed off that we have been missing practice that Colin really needs due to lack of communication, and since my husband has the "what are you gonna do about it" attitude that I don't have, I needed to vent. (BTW that kind of attitude is a good one to have, I just can't quite get there sometimes...well most of the time) Thanks for listening! *And just for the record....I'm not all that fond of the lady running the practices, and this whole thing just makes me realize my instincts are right on sometimes.

I just have to say that you are not the only parent pissed about this lack of communication and I think 1) the coach shouldn't have signed up to be a coach if he knew he was going to be traveling and would be relying on someone else to hold practice and 2) that this parent who has been holding practice isn't a "team" player, but all she wants is her child to WIN, WIN, WIN! And I think we should bring it up with the league administration. We paid for soccer (including games AND practice) and we haven't been getting that!

So here's my question - do we have practice this week?

Yes, we have practice this week. Thursday at 7:00...same place as the other practices. I hope it is short because I don't wanna miss any TV season premiers! (I'm just gonna have to TIVO My Name is Earl)

Do you want me to punch her? I know that violence is not the answer, but I'd do it for you, Abe.

Thanks Kim....I'd love for you to punch her, but I don't think it will help!

I'm with you guys I would be pissed. I would also probably bring it up to some other people as well. It's so hard since I'm sure the program is geared towards participation and everyone should have that chance.
