Mommy Brain

For the last month or so, my brain has stoppped working.....all I can think about is the kids. And the housework, and now the yard work that is coming up. I don't know what to do about the one track mind I have. Take a continuing education class? Read more about current events? Talk to friends about things other than our kids? All easier said than done. I try to keep informed, try to form my own opinions, try to keep my mind working the same way it did before I had kids, but lately it doesn't seem to be helping. Any thoughts on how to accomplish that?

I completly understand, and agree. It would be nice to not talk about the kids for one whole evening or day. But somehow they always seem to come up.

I think it's hard because so much of our lives are centered around our children. What's your job title? I believe it's "Mom." But we will always put our family first and what we put first is always going to a topic of high priority.

That said, we can always talk about politics, or movies, or books. I think the hard part is remembering those are the things we'd like to talk about. :-)

I have Mommy brain too and I hate it. I miss my job. Sometimes I think my brain has turned to such mush that I will never be able to return to the work force. Each child sucks a little more out; I am afraid I would need spoon fed after a third baby. I find myself clinging to my old job title like it is a life raft to my old self.
